Update

On the last post I had forgotten to mention that we weren’t going to be leaving till August 15^th to Ohio. I have received phone calls wondering how come we have not reached Ohio yet! Since we had sold our house in one day we had to move into a furnished corporate apartment until we can leave in August. It will only be for one month, so it is not too bad. It actually reminds Eric and I of our college days. There was no way I was going to move into the TLF for a month. Whoever thought that those were family units was out of their mind.

Since the move we have been busy trying to finish other stuff. One includes Ethan’s Baptism. It will be this weekend in our hometown so all of our family could attend. Afterwards we will throw a party to celebrate the special occasion. I am so excited to see him in his cute white outfit. Eric’s Uncle Art and his wife Aunt Belinda are going to be Ethan’s Godparents. We are so happy that they were able to jump thru all the hoops because Ethan is truly blessed to have them. It will be a fun occasion and a chance for us to visit with our families for the last time before we move.

It has been so hot, we have been keeping cool either in the pool or at the lake.Last weekend we took Ethan on the boat and had a great time. Him and I got off and swam while Eric fished. It felt great to cool off in the water. He loves to splash and will stop for a second to catch his breath and wipe his face. Then he will start all over again. Towards the end of the boat ride, Ethan started to fall asleep to the sound of the boat and the wind. Also, there will be more water fun because right before we leave to Ohio we are going to make one last stop at Schlitterbahn with my family. It should be fun!

Our family wants to send out our prayers and support to the Pubillones Family as Olivia’s Daddy, Mike leaves for Iraq. We are here for you anytime you may need us.

The packers are coming on Wednesday, therefore this will be our last entry until we get to Ohio or until I can get to a computer. Ethan is in the teething stage, that means his chin and shirts are always wet. He is not into the teething rings or the wet washcloths. However, the Humphrey tablets really help in calming him down and it seems to do the trick. He always has his hands in his mouth or anything else that he can get to fit in there. One personality that has come out in Ethan is shyness. Whenever we get around other people that he doesn't know and someone starts to play with him he starts to smile, get real shy, tries to dig his face into my chest, and then he will look again to see if that person is still there. It is too cute! One picture is mommy kissing him and the other is Ethan playing before bath.


Congrats to cousin Dez on her engagement!!! We are so excited and can't wait for the big day. By the way, the ring is fabulous.

Rolling around

Ethan has outgrown his bouncer and I am afraid to leave him in his swing unattended because he has this habit of pushing himself off of the seat and putting both hands on the floor. It scares me to death but he doesn't seem to mind. Therefore, in order for me to get anything done he gets to go on the floor. I don't know why I bother to put a blanket on the floor because he seems to roll all around it. The other day he rolled from one room across the tile hallway and into the other room. In the picture Ethan rolled over to the TV and just laid there watching it while kicking the bottom part. Eric said, "Look, he is already messing with the TV and not even six months". I am really trying to enjoy this because I know when he starts to crawl or even walk. I know I will have trouble keeping up.

For Fathers Day we had a relaxing day at home. It almost seemed that Ethan knew it was Father's Day because he really didn't fuss and either played or slept most of the day. It was a lazy Sunday for us all. We took Daddy out for some barbeque and dessert and enjoyed watching the TV for the rest of the night.

Finishing up

This month we are busy trying to get organized especially since we will be moving out of our house and to Ohio. I am also trying to finish up my job with the spouses club and get it squared away for next year. That is if there is going to be a board. Eric is getting excited about moving and trying something different. I am excited but I am really going to miss San Angelo. I have made many friends and have been accustomed to living in Texas. I truly think it is the friendliest state. Everyone always says hello and sometimes you can catch yourself having a great conversation with complete strangers. San Angelo will hold a special place in my heart because our 1st child was born here and we purchased our 1st home here. I am sure that every base will be just as great, but I do hope to come back to Texas. Especially since the weather is warmer, I will take 110 over 30 any day.

Ethan is doing wonderfully as always. Now it is getting to that time that even if I walk away for a moment he will roll himself to a completely different spot. It is quite interesting because sometimes he will move himself right next to a wall and still want to continue rolling. You can see that he tries real hard but just can't seem to move the wall. We tried peaches the other day and he had the cutest face. It was quite tart! One funny thing is that Ethan has started to recognize his bottle. Whenever I start to bring it to him, he just starts smiling and moving his arms and legs. He will try his hardest to sit up just to get it in his mouth little quicker. Only his head and neck will move up, not his chest. Eric and I really get a kick out of it.

Sweet Potatoes, YUM!!

Since Ethan has taken to cereal well, we have started on fruits and veggies. In the video he is enjoying him some sweet potatoes. One thing about Ethan is that he is does not shy away from food. He did really well and ate the whole thing. I just don't want to be the one to change the diaper when the food makes it re-appearance. Nice orange sweet potatoes (God, please let it be Eric).

Fun at the pool

Yesterday Ethan and I went to the pool with some friends of ours. He looked so cute in his swimming trunks and his floppy hat. I didn't take any pictures because with my luck I would of dropped the camera in the pool. It looked like he was having fun. His face was getting all wet because he kept splashing his hands around. He really didn't seem to mind. Since Texas is so hot, we will be going back. I will try to get a picture next time. Other than that he is doing real good. Constantly rolling around and baby talking. I can't believe he is going to be 5 months, I don't know where the time went.

What is this stuff in my mouth?

On Tuesday Ethan got first hand experience on what baby cereal taste like. We put him in his highchair and tried to keep the mess minimal. He did better than I expected. Once he got the hang of something solid in his mouth he started to swallow his cereal. However, much of it ended up on his face. I have been giving him cereal twice a day since then and some feedings he does real good while other feedings he shuts his mouth tight and makes a fuss. I think he will get the hang of it.

When we arrived from Alamo on Monday, I placed Ethan on his play mat so I could make a bottle and Eric was bringing in our luggage. While waiting for his bottle Ethan started to cry and get really upset. I was rushing to find his formula, than all of a sudden there was silence. I walked over to see why he suddenly got quite and noticed he had rolled from his back onto his stomach. Now Ethan does roll from his stomach to his back but whenever he is placed on his stomach he gives such a fit that I thought this kid will never want to roll onto his stomach. He has proved me wrong once again. Since then I am constantly finding him on his stomach and perfectly content. Even this morning Eric found him in his crib sleeping on his stomach. He must have rolled over during the night.

Grand Canyon and Graduation

I know that it has been awhile since I have put any new info or pics. We are sorry, but we have really good excuses. We first flew to Arizona to visit Grandpa and Grandma Haut. The flights weren’t that bad, it just wore all of us out. Ethan did better than expected and sleep most of the way. However, Arizona is two hours behind our time zone so since Ethan normally wakes up at 7:30 here. He was waking up at 5:30 there, other than that no major complaints. We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. It was the first time they had seen Ethan since he was born. He was spoiled rotten! While we were on vacation we visited the Grand Canyon (or what I refer to as the “big hole in the ground”). It was interesting to see and we took tons of pictures. We also got a chance to ride on the Colorado River. The scenery was phenomenal and it was a great vacation.

After our little vacation we headed to Alamo during Memorial weekend. Eric’s sister Danielle, cousin Gina and my cousin Janesse graduated from High School. Therefore, we celebrated their achievements and got a chance to visit family as well as friends. Especially the Bolins, it was great to see them and their two children.

I had mentioned that we put our house up for sale. While we were in Arizona it sold. We are happy that the stress of an unsold house is not on our minds. Now we are just waiting for August to move.

1st Mother's Day

First, I would like to say a Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers! Especially since becoming a mother, I know that each mom deserves one day that is dedicated to her. There should be more days that celebrate all the hard work.

My first Mother's Day was very fun and relaxing. Eric did a great job in making sure that it turned out to be a special day. We just relaxed during the day, played with Ethan and then went to Johnny Carinos for dinner and dessert. We also went and toke Ethan's pictures so we will be handing them out when they get delivered.

Yesterday after Ethan's doctor appointment we were playing with the video camera. It was a good thing, since Ethan rolled over for the first time. We also have a video of him laughing. Tell us what you think.

4 month check-up and Bingo

Yesterday Ethan turned 4 months old. It has flown by! He has turned from a snuggling calm baby to a constantly moving and active infant. Today Ethan had his 4-month check up appointment. The doctor said he was looking real healthy (ok I know my kid is a little chubby, that’s how I like my babies!) and had great pinching cheeks. His weight is 15lbs and 6oz, height is 24 in and his head size is 16 1/2 in. He did get 3 shots today. He handled it much better than the last time. He only screamed as she was giving them but as soon as he was picked up he calmed down to just a bottom lip whimper. As soon as we got home he passed out, as you can see in the picture. My poor baby :(

In other news, I am hosting a function for the OSC called Crystal Basket Bingo tonight and it will be the final event of the board year. I am excited and hopefully I will win something this year. It will be the last event for me at Goodfellow since we will be leaving around July. I have been on the board for two years and even with all the hard work. I have enjoyed all the people that I have met and will remember the friendships that I have made. Ladies, it has been my pleasure!

Busy Month

The month of May is going to be one of Ethan's busiest months. Ethan will be going on an airplane for the very first time. We are heading to Arizona to visit family, Wish us luck! I hope he stays clam and enjoys the ride. Ethan will also be visiting family in Alamo and attending his aunts High School graduation. Congrats Danielle!! On top of all of that we have put our house on the market and hope to be selling it soon. Hopefully Ethan will be able to keep up with our hectic month and not get too much out of his routine.

Ethan turns 4 months in couple of days and will be receiving another couple rounds of shots. He has plumped up nice and may continue to since we are about to start solids. He is still trying to roll over but he is a scooter. He will just move his butt and legs whichever direction he wants to go. He ends up moving out of his play area. He is slobbering and trying to put everything in his mouth. He babbles a lot and now realizes that he has different pitches. He will start cooing real loud, stops and lowers his voice. It is hilarious. Eric gets a kick out of it. Ethan is still giggling and it is just the cutest giggle ever. I know I get a kick out of it and try real hard to get him to giggle. Ethan has discovered that he has feet. The other day he was trying to hold on to them while kicking. It was a struggle! He has tried to bring them closer to his mouth but I think his nice round belly is preventing that. I have enclosed some new pictures as well as one old one so that you can see how much he has grown. He is not a newborn anymore!

Ethan Update

Lately Ethan has been trying real hard to rollover. As you can see in one picture he is almost there but just can't get his arm out from under him. We think he is also teething because he has his hands constantly in his mouth and has been drooling everywhere. He shirt gets real soaked. The other day I put my knuckle in his mouth to see if it helped and once I toke it out he had a huge fit. He won’t take any of his teething rings. He only wants flesh.

He is still doing great on sleeping! Lately around 8:30 he just gets this look in his eyes like "Bed please". We will put him in his crib and he won't fight it like he does with his naps. He smiles, turns his little cute head to one side and less than a second he is sleeping. In the picture where he is sleeping, I walked in to find him lying like that. We did not pose him. However, the last pic we kind of put him that way. He looks like a baby model.

Ethan

He looks so happy after he has eaten. Those cheeks are so hard to resist, I pinch his cheeks all the time. Look at how good he is getting on holding his head up.

Hello Dayton, OH

Eric got the news that he has been accepted for the AFIT program at Wright-Patt AFB. It is located in Dayton, Ohio. We are excited and are just waiting for his official orders. I have looked up the base and community on the internet and it sounds like a really great place. We will only be there for 18 months but it will be great to see another part of the country. We also have family up there so it will be nice to finally meet them. We were very lucky to get our first base close to our family. Now it will be hard to leave them, especially since Ethan will not be able to get to see his grandparents as much as we would like. We should be arriving in Dayton around August.

Ethan's First Easter

We went back to Alamo to celebrate Easter with our family. We had a great time and got to see our family again. Ethan received great Easter presents from everyone and enjoyed hanging out at the park watching his cousin’s hunt for Easter eggs. We all had tons of fun and hope that everyone else did too.Eric and I were afraid that Ethan was going to get out of the habit of sleeping thru the night especially with him not being in his crib.That was not the case. Ethan was great and slept all night in the pack'n'play. One thing that we did learn from this weekend was that Ethan loves whip cream. Eric gave Ethan a little taste and once Eric stopped. Ethan started screaming till he got him some more. It was so cute! Ethan had a little down time with his Grandpa Dan. It was a busy weekend so it was rest well needed. It was great to see Ethan interacting more with our family and seeing that they have so much love for him.

Leaving our room

Last night was the first night that Ethan got to sleep in his crib and in his own room. If Ethan could stay the same size forever he would of never left his bassinet, which would’ve stayed on the side of my bed till he was 30. However, he was getting to big for it and would often wake himself up because he would scoot so far down which would constrict the movement of his legs. On an earlier post I suggested that maybe we would bring the crib into our room. However, Eric and I realized that when he does wake up too early it is due to Eric’s Alarm clock, which goes off at 5:30 and he might sleep even better without us also being in there as well. So we deemed last night to be our experiment night and here is how it went. I feed Ethan at 9:00 and he was put into his crib at 9:30. I had the monitor turned up to high and had both of our doors open. I was feeling a little guilty and kind of weird not having him in our room. I remembered thinking how I would thank the heavens on the day he moved out of our room and into his. That was until I actually had to do it and was not really thankful but just worried and nervous. If I could’ve slept with the monitor taped to my ear, I would’ve. I kept asking Eric “What was that? Was that Ethan?” Eric calmly, “He is fine.” Well I did not hear a peep out of him all night, so when Eric’s alarm rang I ran out off bed to see if Ethan was okay. Now it is still dark so when I quietly walk in, I don’t see him. MY HEART DROOPED! But I see a little object in the far left top corner of the crib all huddled up. He had scooted himself all the way up there, which surprises me because I had put him towards the bottom last night. I touched his tummy just to check and everything was fine. He was fast asleep and I about had a heart attack. Well even with my little interruption Ethan slept till 8:00. After all that Eric says, “I am really afraid when Ethan eventually has to leave our house, you are going to be freaking out.” My response with a smile, “It will be out of Love.”

3 months

Today Ethan turns 3 months. He has changed so much in appearance and development. Yesterday Eric said, "He is growing too fast, let's have a newborn again." I laughed and said “Your crazy!” We still have plenty of time to have more children; he will just have to wait a little longer. In the picture Ethan was lying in his play gym the correct way but kept scooting and moving his body. This is how he ended up. At one point he got wrapped around the pole but he got out of it somehow.
